Yesterday a press release hit all of our email boxes stating a new addition to the Ironman circuit. This new race is to be held in St. George, Utah in May of 2010. It wasn't long before the race became abuzz and interest from many people within the endurance community began to show up on the various networking mediums.
Myself having completed Ironman Arizona in April of 2007, got to see first hand the scale and ferocity of this race. It was a brutal test...and at the time like nothing I had ever experienced. Only those who have accepted this challenge truly know the pain and enduring that come with the full Ironman package. A half Ironman although mathematically half the distance in all discplines, is easily a quarter or a third of the pain one must stomach while digesting the capacity of the full distance race. This is Ironman...it has earned that title for a reason. Only the toughest, most driven, motivated individuals seek out and conquer this race. It is one of the greatest tests...even with my expanding endurance resume, it still holds the title as the most rich experience I have yet to complete.
So good luck to all...George, Pete, Ben and Nicole...we will be here (and there) to support you during your trip to the pinnacle of triathlon. Enjoy your journey...and we will see you at the finish line!
